ActiveWins Picks Saturday Accumulator17/05/2019
Valencia, Getafe, Montpellier and Amiens all to win – 21/1
No Premier League football? No problem.
There is still plenty of action to be found in Spain and France today, with there also being plenty on the line. The end of the season is on the horizon, so ActiveWins has jumped at the chance to build one last football accumulator for the weekend.
Take a look at our pick 21/1 pick below.
Valencia – 4/11
The race for the top four in Spain has gone right down to the wire. On the final day of the season, Champions League qualification is in Valencia’s hands. The team in their way? 16th placed Real Valladolid, who are now officially safe from relegation.
Valencia currently sit on 68 points, level with Getafe but ahead by just +1 on goal difference. It really couldn’t be any tighter and Marcelino Toral will be demanding his side to be clinical. They certainly have the potential to be so too, having scored 12 times in their last 4 games.
Getafe have a favourable tie at home to Villarreal, so the Oranges will be in search of a healthy win. Regardless of how those around them do though, we expect Valencia to triumph over Valladolid. The latter have been on a good run, but with their place in the division now safe, Toral’s robust side have the much bigger incentive to get a result on Saturday afternoon.
Getafe – 8/13
As mentioned, closely behind Valencia’s tails is Getafe. The Deep Blues have been La Liga’s surprise package this season, as they are still fighting to compete in the Champions League for the first time in their club’s history.
Their defensive resilience has been a key testament to their league ranking, with just 33 goals conceded all season – one less than the champions Barcelona. They don’t tend to blow teams out of the water, but they are a very tough team to beat. In their last 11 games at home, Getafe have lost just once.
Given the fact that their upcoming opponents have nothing to play for, it is of no surprise to see Jose Baordalas’ men be made the outright favourites. Its been a magical season for those on the blue side of Madrid and ActiveWins expect them to get the job done against a rather average Villarreal team.
Montpellier – 5/6
Just like Spain, the race for the top four is still alive in Ligue 1. It may not be as tight, but Montpellier will be aiming to push St-Etienne all the way to the final game of the season. They defeated the Greens last week and closed the gap to four points, with just two games remaining.
The odds are stacked against them to gain a spot in Europe, but Michel Zakarian’s men are on a real roll. They have won 5 of their last 7 league games, including that epic triumph against the champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Their upcoming opponents may also be in good form themselves, but we fancy Montpellier to carry their strong momentum forward. St-Etienne face 7th place Nice at the weekend, so La Paillade’s will continue to believe that they can make Europe next season. It might be an ambitious dream, but we at least fancy them to get their own job done.
Amiens – 9/2
Not only do we have the European places up for grabs this weekend, we also have a huge relegation scrap.
Monaco host Amiens on Saturday night in a clash that is being dubbed a six-pointer. Its been a huge fall from grace since 2017 for the Red and Whites, going from title champions to now facing the proposition of dropping down a division. They haven’t won a game in 7 tries and it’s beginning to look very bleak for Leonardo Jardim (again).
After their heroics last season, Amiens have slumped into a relegation battle this year, but they are keeping their heads above water. Finding goals has been a major issue for the Unicorns, but ActiveWins are predicting them to find that crucial win that will keep them in the division.
