Weekend Preview: 26th - 27th May25/05/2018
Can Real Make it a Hat Trick? Plus Play-Offs and Monaco GP
We are in store for a sweltering bank holiday and with sunshine looks set to bask the UK, beer gardens will be full up and down the country while the smell of BBQs will be sure to drift across the nation. However, basking in the sunshine is not all we will be doing this weekend as it is also a major weekend for sport and we have had a look through the events to bring you some top (well, hopefully!) betting tips.
Champions League Final
There is no better place to start than Kiev as the Liver Birds prepare to replace chicken as the number one feathered friend in the Ukrainian capital. The red half of Merseyside will be heading east to take on the modern day goliaths that are Madrid and while Zinedine Zidane’s side are the favourites in the betting, David certainly has a chance in this biblical battle.
Real have looked far from comfortable in their previous two matches with Juventus and Bayern Munich running them close and the Spaniards look as though they are susceptible early on in matches. With Liverpool notorious for flying out of the blocks this season, this match will surely be the most exciting final for years as both teams throw caution to the wind.
Goals are a near certainty at the Olympic Stadium and this match could be a real delight for the neutrals with a free-flowing game on the cards.
Champions League Betting Tip: Over 4.5 Goals @ 5/2
The Football League comes to an end this weekend and we have three days straight of pure footballing drama to look forward two. While Rotherham United v Shrewsbury Town may not be the most exciting clash when compared to the Champions League Final, it means everything to the supporters of those clubs.
We start on Friday where Fulham will lock horns with Aston Villa for the right to play in the Premier League and this one looks to be a tough match to call. Fulham finished third in the league, but after 46 matches, they only just finished ahead of fourth-placed Villa by five points although they did beat the Midlands side when the pair last met in March. In Ryan Sessegnon, they boast a real gem of a player and they have goals in the Serbian giant Aleksandar Mitrovic. We fancy a tight game to go the way of the Londoners.
In the other matches, Rotherham United will be looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt and they have enough about them to get back into the second tier. The Millers also have plenty of play-off experience in their squad with Shrewsbury potentially overawed by the occasion. Finally, Coventry City could stop Exeter in their tracks and having battered Notts County in their play-off second leg, they could take some stopping on Monday.
Fulham to win and under 2.5 goals @ 3/1
Rotherham United to win @ 11/8
Coventry City to get promoted @ 4/6
Monaco Grand Prix
Away from the football pitch, Formula 1 will stage the glamour event of the year as the competition descends on Monaco for the famous Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton leads the standings having secured back-to-back victories in Azerbaijan and Spain and the British driver looks to be getting a tune out of his Mercedes. However, he will face a stern challenge from the Ferrari drivers, but more likely, the Red Bull duo.
In a car which performs well on tight circuits, one of the pairing of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have an excellent chance to secure maximum points in the principality. We are just edging our backing behind the Aussie, who looks to have a more settled temperament when compared with his younger stablemate.
Monaco Grand Prix Betting Tip: Daniel Ricciardo to win @ 11/4
